Business rates (also called non-domestic rates) are how businesses help pay for local services.

A proportion of the rates collected locally is kept to support services provided by us, as well as Staffordshire County Council, the police and the fire service.

Paying your bill

Business rates are usually paid over 10 monthly instalments. If you’d prefer to spread the cost over 12 months instead, this can be arranged - just contact us before 10 March each year to set it up - find out more.

Getting advice

You don’t need to use an agent or adviser to discuss your rateable value or business rates bill with us - you’re very welcome to contact us directly.

If you do choose to use a representative, it’s important to make sure they are properly qualified. Members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation are regulated by professional standards designed to protect the public.

Before entering into any agreement with an adviser or company, we strongly recommend checking their experience, qualifications and indemnity insurance, and taking time to consider the terms carefully.
