A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) is an order which can be used to impose conditions to control anti-social behaviour in a specified area or areas.

They are enforced by our authorised officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and police officers. Each PSPO is reviewed every three years.

There is currently one dog control PSPO in place in the District.

Dog Control PSPO proposal – Hill Ridware and Drayton Bassett

We are seeking your views on a proposed dog control PSPO covering open spaces in Hill Ridware and Drayton Bassett. The PSPO aims to promote responsible dog ownership and balance the needs of dog owners with those of other users of areas such as play areas and sports facilities.

  • Hill Ridware Village Hall Play Area and Open Space

The proposal excludes dogs from the area known as the Hill Ridware village hall play area as marked in red on the map within the order.

The proposal will also require any person in charge of a dog to keep the dog on a lead of no more than 2 metres in length when in the area known as Hill Ridware village hall field, marked in yellow on the map in the order.

  • Drayton Bassett Park

Requires any person in charge of a dog to keep the dog on a lead of no more than 2 metres in length when in the area known as Drayon Bassett park, marked in yellow on the map in the order.

Your views

We are keen to hear the views of our stakeholders and the wider public on the proposed PSPO, which can be viewed in full here. Please review the PSPO before completing this short questionnaire.

We are particularly interested in understanding whether there is support for an exclusion of dogs from the entire Hill Ridware Village Hall play area and open space as opposed to the current proposal to exclude them from the play area only, with the requirement for them to be kept on a lead in the wider area.
