Why we’re asking
Every year we set a budget that ensures local services are delivered safely, efficiently and fairly across the district.
For 2026-2027 we want to hear from you about what matters most - whether it’s waste collection, parks, housing support, leisure, or planning.
Although our element of council tax represents only about 9% of the total household bill (for an average property about £3.80 a week for the services we deliver) your feedback plays a key role in shaping where money is spent, what is prioritised, and how we can continue to deliver better value for money.
What we spend your money on
- This year (2025-2026), we will spend around £15.8 million on net services (after income) under the district council budget.
- Services include waste collection, recycling, parks and open spaces, planning, housing support, community safety and leisure activities.
- We aim to improve quality while delivering services that matter to residents.
Key budget choices for 2026-2027
As part of setting next year’s budget, we’re focused on:
- Getting the basics right - reliable bin collections, safe parks and public spaces, efficient planning and licensing.
- Improving local infrastructure - investing in our parks, leisure centres, and regeneration projects.
- Maximising value - making best use of income, working smarter and listening to resident priorities.
- Transparency and fairness - making sure budgets are clear, and you can understand how your contribution is used.
