Get ready to feel the rush as Hello Velo is bringing the high-speed excitement of track cycling back to Lichfield District.
The Street Velodrome is returning to Lichfield’s Beacon Park on Saturday 21 June 2025, from 11am to 4pm, and Burntwood Leisure Centre on 19 July 2025, offering a completely free cycling experience for people of all ages and abilities.
This unique pop-up velodrome replicates the drama of professional track racing and it’s open to everyone, whether you're a confident cyclist or trying it for the very first time. No booking is required, and all equipment including bikes, helmets, and pads is provided. You can even bring your own bike if you prefer.
Each rider will have the chance to warm up on the track, take on two timed laps and then race head-to-head in a friendly two-lap competition.
Expert coaches will be on hand throughout the day to guide riders, offer tips, and make sure everyone has a safe and fun experience.
Councillor Andy Smith, Lichfield District Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Leisure and Major Projects, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome the Street Velodrome back to the district. It’s a brilliant, high-energy event that puts a real spin on community sport in Lichfield and Burntwood. It’s open, accessible and completely free, supporting our ambition to help residents be more active, more often, and for longer.”
The Street Velodrome returns to Beacon Park next week and will be at Burntwood Wakes Festival at Burntwood Leisure Centre on Saturday 19 July 2025 (more details of the Burntwood event to follow).
Don’t miss this chance to ride like a pro and enjoy a fantastic family-friendly day out in the park!
