We have joined forces with the Community Safety Partnership to launch a brand-new online Home Theft Prevention Hub to help residents keep their homes, belongings and families safe.
The hub which is available online, is packed with practical tips and advice covering everything from door and window security to garden tools, lighting, smart tech and tips on keeping valuables safe.
It also includes guidance on how to mark property, how to respond to suspicious activity, and how to make homes a less attractive target for opportunistic theft.
To celebrate the launch, the council is also running a free giveaway where residents can win home security items including anti-snap locks for the home, a home security system and installation, a video doorbell and camera, patio door alarms, door handle alarms and ring doorbells.
Councillor Richard Cox, Cabinet Member for Community Engagement at Lichfield District Council and Chair of the Lichfield District Community Safety Partnership, said:
“Home theft can have a devastating emotional and financial impact, and prevention is key. This new hub provides residents with clear, practical advice to help reduce the risk of burglary and protect what matters most. Whether you're looking to boost your home security or just need some quick safety tips, the hub is a great place to start.”
Local businesses have backed the council’s initiative, contributing a fantastic range of prizes to help raise awareness about affordable home security measures:
"At Jellybean Technology, we’re dedicated to helping people feel safe and secure in their homes. Sadly, we’re often called in after a break-in has already happened, and we see firsthand how upsetting that experience can be. That’s why we’re proud to be part of this initiative; it’s all about encouraging residents to take simple, proactive steps to protect their homes. We’re also pleased to offer a free Ajax superior alarm system with professional installation, worth over £2,000, as part of the competition. It’s a great chance to learn more about home security and be in with a chance of winning a system that could make a real difference.” Darell Baumber, Jellybean Technology
“For decades, we’ve been helping residents across the district protect their homes. We’re proud to support this campaign and raise awareness of the simple yet effective ways to improve home security. Even a basic lock upgrade can make a significant difference. We’re always available to offer advice and guidance to anyone looking to enhance their home security.” Steve Morris, Managing Director at Lichfield Lock & Key.
“Preventing crime starts with awareness. At Justice Fire & Security, we believe in empowering residents to take control of their home safety with smart, accessible technology and are delighted to be giving away a prize as part of the competition.” Dave Sanders, Managing Director at Justice Fire & Security.
The Home Theft Prevention Hub is part of the council and Community Safety Partnership’s wider commitment to supporting safer, more secure communities across Lichfield District. The competition closes on Thursday 14 August 2025, and winners will be selected at random. All terms and conditions are online.
