Our Cabinet has backed a series of long-term opportunities to support the future improvement and regeneration of Burntwood, with a particular focus on the reinvigoration of Sankey’s Corner and the wider town centre.
The report explored a range of ideas and opportunities for Burntwood, including ways to strengthen the town centre, improve public spaces and connectivity, encourage investment and create a stronger sense of place across the town.
Central to the discussions was the future of Sankey’s Corner and how the area could evolve over time to create a more attractive, active and sustainable heart for Burntwood, with a better mix of uses and improved spaces for residents, businesses and visitors.
Councillor Richard Holland, Cabinet Member for High Street and Economic Development, said:
“Burntwood is a town with huge pride, strong communities and enormous potential, and we want to ensure we continue looking at opportunities to improve and strengthen the town for the future.
“There are lots of ideas and possibilities within the report, but the standout opportunity is the long-term reinvigoration of Sankey’s Corner and the wider town centre, helping create a place that better serves residents and supports future investment.
“This is about continuing conversations, exploring options and making sure we focus on the areas where we can make the biggest long-term difference for Burntwood.”
The work forms part of ongoing efforts to support Burntwood’s future growth and regeneration, with a continued focus on creating a town centre that better reflects the scale, ambition and potential of the community it serves.
Further work will now continue around opportunities to strengthen Sankey’s Corner and encourage future investment, activity and confidence in Burntwood over the coming years.
