Burntwood is one of Lichfield District’s largest and fastest growing communities, with a strong identity, proud local communities and significant potential for future investment and regeneration.
We are continuing work to explore opportunities to strengthen Burntwood town centre, support local businesses, improve public spaces and encourage long-term investment in the town.
A recent study has helped identify a range of opportunities and ideas for Burntwood, with a particular focus on the future of Sankey’s Corner and the wider town centre area.
The work explores how Burntwood could continue to evolve over time to create a stronger and more vibrant town centre, with improved public spaces, better connections between key destinations and a broader mix of retail, leisure, food and drink, community and public uses.
The study also considers wider opportunities across Burntwood, including:
- improving walking and cycling connections
- strengthening local centres
- enhancing public realm and green spaces
- supporting future housing and mixed-use development
- creating a clearer sense of identity and place
