The Chair of Lichfield District Council has been appointed for 2026/7.
Councillor Thomas Marshall, who was sworn in at last week’s Full Council meeting, has represented the Armitage with Handsacre ward since 2003 and was proposed by Cllr Richard Cox and seconded by Cllr Jamie Checkland.
As the Chair Cllr Marshall will represent the district at a range of events, including royal visits, community events and formal openings. He will also chair council meetings during his term of office which runs until next May.
Cllr Marshall, who succeeds Cllr Keith Vernon as Chair, will be supported during his year of office by his Consort Jane Farrow.
The new Vice Chair of Lichfield District Council is Cllr Andrew Rushton. Elected to Lichfield District Council in 2023 Cllr Rushton represents the Whittington and Streethay ward. Cllr Rushton was proposed by Cllr Paul Ray and seconded by Cllr Russ Bragger.
