The school summer holidays are just a few days away and Lichfield District Council’s Active Lichfield team has arranged a fantastic schedule of sporting activities for children and young people from 7 to 19 years to enjoy over the whole period.
From soft archery, table tennis, football and basketball to volleyball, boxing, dodgeball and multi sports, there is something for everyone hosted at venues across the district including Lichfield’s Beacon Park, Burntwood Leisure Centre, Chase Terrace Park and Armitage Village Hall.
The programme kicks off next Monday, 24 July, and most of the sessions are free.
As part of the Getin2it summer offer SPACE leisure passes are also available from either Burntwood Leisure Centre or Friary Grange Leisure Centre.
Funded by the office of the Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire and Rescue and Crime, Lichfield District Council is offering 170 free leisure activity passes for young people aged between 8 and 17 on a first come, first served basis.
They give access to unlimited swimming at public swimming time sessions, off peak access to tennis, badminton, squash and table tennis and other activities including the Getin2it summer sessions.
The passes also offer discounted activities in both leisure centres for 12 months after the summer holidays.
Once all 170 free passes have been allocated passes will be available to purchase.
A spokesperson for Lichfield District Council said:
“A wide variety of activities are on offer for young people to enjoy through Getin2it over the summer holiday period.
“They are designed to keep participants active and engaged and we hope many will come along and enjoy the sessions on offer.
“There is no need to book – just come along and join in with any of them over the six-week holiday.”
