New city centre gateway investment opportunities launched at UKREiiF 2024

We are excited to announce the launch of three iconic new development and investment opportunities in the heart of Lichfield City centre.

The opportunities will be officially unveiled at the UK Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) 2024, taking place from May 21-23. Leader of the Council, Councillor Doug Pullen, Chief Executive, Simon Fletcher and Chief Operating Officer, Kerry Dove will be available at Stand E22 to share details and meet potential development partners.

The new opportunities are part of the gateway Birmingham Road Site, a pivotal project designed to transform the city centre. Anchored by an Everyman Cinema complex, these developments offer a once-in-a-generation chance to shape the future of Lichfield City Centre and the wider District. The council is seeking high-quality residential and commercial developers who share their vision to maximize the potential of this site.

Information on the new zones

Investment opportunities:

  • Zone 2a – 0.5ha / 80 – 100  homes – high-quality residential
  • Zone 2b – 0.5ha/ 80 – 100 homes –  mixed tenure residential, including affordable housing
  • Zone 3 – 10,000 sq m of floorspace –  high-quality commercial, blending office accommodation, a hotel, and retail spaces

The development’s initial phase, including the cinema complex and outdoor spaces, is set to begin at the end of May 2024, with work starting on the demolition of a car park to allow the cinema plaza to be built with the Everyman Cinema on schedule to open in Spring 2026.

The first residential zone on the site was offered to the market in early 2024 and garnered substantial interest. Submissions are currently being assessed, with a decision expected in June 2024.
