We are investing in essential refurbishment works to preserve one of Stowe Pool's most recognisable landmarks and prepare it for future use.
Built around 1890, the Victorian boathouse was originally used to store boats and equipment for maintaining Stowe Pool as a drinking water reservoir, and remains one of Lichfield's most loved historic landmarks.
Works will begin on Monday 27 July and are expected to take around six weeks to complete. We'll post updates to this page during the project.
Works include roof repairs, new gutters and drainpipes, redecoration, a new entrance door, replacement flooring, improved storage and tree works to improve access. The refurbishment has been designed to enhance the building while preserving its character and Stowe Pool setting.
The works have been carefully planned to protect Stowe Pool's wildlife. Ecological surveys have been completed and measures will be in place throughout the project to protect bats, nesting birds and other wildlife.
Once the refurbishment is complete, we'll explore pportunities to bring the boathouse back into active use.
