The Stonnall neighbourhood plan was made on 19 April 2016.

On 19 April 2016, our full council agreed make the Stonnall neighbourhood plan. The Stonnall neighbourhood plan now forms a part of the development plan for Lichfield District. As required by the Neighbourhood planning (General) Regulations a decision statement has been published.

referendum Results

On Thursday 25 February 2016 the Stonnall neighbourhood plan received a ‘Yes’ vote at referendum. 92% of those voting said ‘Yes’ and 8% said ‘No’. There was a turnout of 29.68%. The neighbourhood plan will be ‘made’ once approved by full council.


The referendum for the Stonnall neighbourhood plan took place on Thursday 25 February 2016. The Stonnall neighbourhood plan was independently examined in 2015 and the examiner recommended that subject to some modifications the plan should proceed to referendum. We agreed with the examiner’s report and voted to progress the plan to referendum at the cabinet meeting on 3 November 2015.

Decision statement

On 3 November 2015, our cabinet agreed to proceed to referendum on the draft Stonnall neighbourhood plan. As required by the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations a decision statement has been published.


The Stonnall neighbourhood plan was independently examined by Mr Andrew Ashcroft in July and August 2015. The independent examiner's report is now available.

Submission Stonnall neighbourhood plan

Shenstone Parish Council have now submitted the Stonnall neighbourhood plan (16/01/2015) to us. In accordance with section 16 of the Neighbourhood planning (General) Regulations 2012, we consulted on the neighbourhood plan. The consultation period lasted for six weeks and closed on Friday 20 March 2015 at 5.15pm.

It is our responsibility to collate all the representations and pass them onto the independent examiner, who will look at them and the plan documents when assessing whether the plan meets the basic conditions and can therefore proceed to referendum.

Pre-submission consultation

Shenstone Parish Council consulted on the pre-submission Stonnall neighbourhood plan in accordance with regulation 14 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. The Pre-submission plan is still available to view via the link below. The pre-submission consultation closed on Monday 5 January 2015.

Neighbourhood area designation

The Stonnall Neighbourhood Area has been designated having been approved 19 February 2013 (The relevant body making the application is Shenstone Parish Council).
