Community governance review

A community governance review provides an opportunity to review and make changes to governance arrangements at the local level.

It can consider the following:

  • Creating, merging, altering or abolishing parishes
  • The naming of parishes and the style of new parishes
  • The electoral arrangements for parishes
  • Grouping parishes under a common parish council or de-grouping parishes
  • Other types of local arrangements, including parish meetings

Between 1 February and 25 April 2022 we invited residents and interested organisations to submit their views on existing arrangements and suggest proposals for change.

The review of community governance arrangements in the District is now complete. Final recommendations have been made in respect of Fradley & Streethay Parish, Lichfield City and Longdon. The recommendations and reasons are set out on the following pages. A Re-Organisation Order will be made to give effect to the changes. The effective date is anticipated to be 1 April 2023.
