Knife bins are a secure, anonymous, and responsible way to dispose of knives and other bladed items.
Whether it’s an unwanted kitchen knife or something more serious, every knife removed is a potential life saved.
Knife bin locations
You can drop off your knives 24/7 at any of our four permanent locations:
- Tesco Extra - Church Street, Lichfield - directions
- Morrisons - Beacon Street, Lichfield - directions
- Morrisons - Burntwood - directions
- Burntwood Leisure Centre - Burntwood - directions
What happens to the knives?
All bins are monitored and regularly emptied by trained professionals in partnership with local police.
Once collected, all knives are:
- Safely transported for disposal
- Melted down and recycled by the British Ironworks Centre in Oswestry
- Repurposed for community art or materials, ensuring they are never used again
Not only are you reducing the risk of violence, you’re also keeping knives out of landfill and helping the environment.
Backed by the community
Local knife bins are supported by:
- Lichfield District Council
- Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire and Rescue and Crime, Ben Adams
