Emergency planning

Lichfield city centre evacuation plan

To help businesses prepare for a possible city centre evacuation, we have worked with our partners including the police and fire services, to put arrangements in place to evacuate the city centre if there is a major incident.

We have also developed a handy leaflet and poster which we hope you will find helpful in preparing your own evacuation plan.

The poster should be displayed in staff areas, but is not intended for public display. The leaflet can be circulated to staff as part of awareness raising.

For copies of the leaflet or poster, or if you have any questions please call 01543 308741. To speak to the Staffordshire Civil Contingencies Unit call 01785 898618.

About our role

We are a Category One responder, as defined in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 defines an emergency/major incident as 'an event or situation which threatens serious damage to human welfare in a place in the UK, the environment of a place in the UK, or war or terrorism which threatens serious damage to the security of the UK'.

As part of our work, we work closely with Staffordshire's Civil Contingencies Unit, the emergency services, other local authorities, health authorities and various organisations to prepare for and assist in emergencies.
