To enable some events to come to the district, particulary those that require lengthy set up and take-down times, we currently offer park hire discounts through a discount calculator - the aim of the discount calculator is to:
- Allow event organisers to see at a glance the likely costs of an event hire.
- Make event pricing and discounts clear and transparent.
Please note, we will be conducting a review of parks hire charges in early 2025. We will however honour current prices for any event bookings placed prior to any price increase.
How does the event discount calculator work?
We offer discounts on the set-up and take-down costs for large-scale events.
Discount are based on the published hire charges.
If you are planning to host an event in a district council owned park, and your event will:
- be open to the public and likely to attract more than 499 people at any one time during the advertised opening hours.
- involve one or more consented activity (street trading, alcohol or entertainment) or may require a formal road closure.
You will need to express an interest first. If you would like a hire charge quotation before expressing an interest, please contact our events team.

We also offer a range of discretionary discounts, that will depend on the nature of the event, the likely footfall and whether the council can support delivering activity at the event:

*core event hire charges are for the days of the event itself and do not include set-up and take-down days, unless set-up and take-down days include a Saturday or Sunday between 1 May - 30 September which are charged at full rate/considered core event hire charges for the purpose of the discount structure, as the council cannot hire the park/use it for other events on such days.
