Before you apply
Before applying for a taxi driver licence, please read the following sections and our taxi policy 2025.
Applications can only be made online and you will need the following to complete your application:
- A passport style digital photograph
- Your national insurance number
- Your UK driving licence
- Your eight digit DVLA check code
- Your nine character tax check code
- Your medical certificate following a DVLA Group 2 medical examination
- Your 12 digit DBS certificate number, if you are signed up to the DBS update service. The number starts with 00.
- Evidence of your right to work in the UK
- Your taxi safeguarding course certificate
- Your disability awareness training course certificate
- Driving test pass certificate
- Your credit or debit card to make payment.
