More than £5.4 million was contributed by developers during 2025/26, helping to fund improvements to local facilities and infrastructure across the district.
The funding, secured through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Section 106 agreements, helps ensure developers contribute towards the infrastructure needed to support communities and address the impact of development.
Figures published in the council's latest Infrastructure Funding Statement, approved by Cabinet on Tuesday 3 November, show that £2.5 million was received through CIL and a further £2.9 million through Section 106 agreements during the financial year.
Almost £1.5 million in Strategic CIL funding was also allocated to projects during 2025/26, supporting investment in community facilities, sports provision and public spaces.
Residents are already seeing the benefits of developer contributions, including £45,000 towards the refurbishment of Alrewas Multi-Use Games Area, nearly £100,000 supporting improvements to hockey and crown green bowling facilities at Lichfield Sports Club, and £86,000 in Section 106 funding towards Burntwood Skatepark, which opened in October 2025.
Councillor Alex Farrell, Cabinet Member for Housing and Local Plan at Lichfield District Council, said:
“When development takes place, it's important that developers contribute towards the infrastructure and facilities our communities need.
“Securing more than £5.4 million in contributions during the last financial year demonstrates the scale of investment being generated, but what matters most is how that funding benefits residents.
“We're already seeing improvements to sports facilities and community spaces across the district, and we want to make sure this investment continues to address the pressures on local infrastructure.
“Our focus is on making sure developers play their part and that the funding secured delivers real, lasting benefits for our communities.”
The council's Infrastructure Funding Statement sets out how developer contributions have been received, allocated and spent during 2025/26, alongside priorities for future investment.
