A new Chair has been appointed at Lichfield District Council.

Councillor Ann Hughes was sworn in at yesterday’s Full Council meeting after the former Chair stood down.

As the Chair, Councillor Hughes will represent the district at a range of events, including royal visits, community events and formal openings. She will also chair council meetings during her term of office which runs until next May.

Councillor Ann Hughes, who was elected to Lichfield District Council in May and represents the Stowe Ward, said:

“It is a great honour, privilege and responsibility to serve as Chair of Lichfield District Council.

“I know the city of Lichfield very well and look forward to getting to know the wider district.”

Councillor Hughes said she intended to continue to support the former Chair’s commitment to Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia charities.

Councillor Hughes also sits on Lichfield City Council and is currently serving as Mayor of the city.
