Project timeline
- Start of construction – June 2025
This project will involve both onsite and offsite works which are currently scheduled as follows:
Onsite works:
- Roads & Sewers Programme – commenced w/c 23rd June
- Noise & Dust Monitoring equipment is in place along Cricket Lane.
- Boundary Fence Screening is currently being printed and is due to be delivered to site and installed w/c 7th July.
- Plots foundations have already commenced to Plots 289-304. Next Foundations are plots 257 – 288.
- Temporary Construction Access now completed.
- 9 September to 22 September – Utility works on Cricket Lane with S&R
- 10 October to 27 November - Cadent - gas diversion works to Swinfen Island
- Dust netting along Cricket Lane has been temporarily removed due to safety issues with the high winds we are experiencing. The update from last week with the offsite services still stands until 22 September.
- Dust netting to be returned to the Cricket Lane boundary by w/e 3 October.
- Indurent have commenced works on the commercial land and will be sharing our site access in the short term.
- Compound is due to be relocated in the next 3 weeks further into the development
- New signage confirming the site managers contact details will be erected by the w/e 17th October
- Boundary Fence on Cricket Lane has been temporarily relocated and will be repositioned by the end of October
- National Grid Works are progressing well and still on track to finish 24th November
- Secondary access by the Persimmon Show home also due to complete by 24th November
- 24th November for 5 weeks there will be a road closure on Tamworth Road/Cricket Lane by Cadent Gas
- 25th November – foul outfall works in Cricket Lane will commence for the Charles Church development
- Persimmon Show Home to Open December 2025
- Remaining hedge removal on Cricket Lane to take place w/c 12th Jan
- Some Hedge replanting will take place December 2025 by occupied units in the new alignment position
Off site works:
As you will appreciate it is necessary for other organisations to carry out certain works. These are outlined below. It is understood that the companies will communicate with residents ahead of any works taking place.
- Lichfield & Hatherton Canals Restorations Trust are carrying out works in this locality. View more information including a timeline of works.
- Cadent Diversion works on the Tamworth Road Junction to commence July /August. Exact start date to be confirmed.
- Electric Diversion works on the Tamworth Road Junction to September / October. Exact start date to be confirmed.
- S278 works to commence Q1 2026.
- Completion: To be confirmed.
FAQs
- Why is this development happening? Planning permission was granted for the outline planning proposal in December 2022. Housing is necessary in Lichfield to meet government housing targets. The employment section of the site will provide much needed business growth in the district.
- Was there public consultation? Yes, throughout the planning process the public have been notified of the proposals and given the statutory time to comment.
- Has the development been approved? Yes, the outline application was approved in December 2022, the development then goes under Reserved Matters application, with approval for this given in December 2023.
- Who makes the final decisions? The Planning Officers have delegated powers, however, some applications are decided at Planning Committee with Councillors.

- Will the council profit from this development? No, the council do not profit from any developments. There are mechanisms in place such as CIL payments and S106 payments which the developer pays the Council in order to make an application acceptable, which go towards improvements such as local infrastructure.
