How developments boost the district

CIL, which helps to support the delivery of local infrastructure, has delivered over £3.8 million to the district since 2016.

Key projects delivered with CIL have included improvements to Chasewater Country Park, expansion and refurbishment of Westgate GP Practice and expansion of King Edward VI School.

Over £716,000 of CIL was generated by local developments in 2022/2023, which was added to the CIL pot and distributed in the following ways:

Funding  Description
£1,450,000 Set aside to fund new leisure facilities across the district, including an Aqua Park at Stowe Pool, climbing wall and soft play at Burntwood Leisure Centre and adventure golf, obstacle course and padel tennis courts at Beacon Park – find out more.
£179,798 Distributed to parish and town councils within the district for them to allocate to and fund local infrastructure projects of their choice. These include the Jubilee Garden in Alrewas, a new toilet block at Chasetown FC and a new bus shelter at Boley Park Community Centre.
£100,000 Contributed £100,000 towards Chasetown Football Club’s 3G pitch at the club’s home at The Scholars Ground.
£8,717 Was set aside to support the Cannock Chase Special Area of Conservation (SAC) – find out more about SACs.
