How it works
A trained staff member or volunteer at the participating group/organisation will explain the scheme to you.
If you are interested, you (or your carer) will decide if you want a wristband, lanyard or keyring.
The staff or volunteer will help you:
- Decide what information to include
- Add your chosen information to your wristband, lanyard, or keyring - it will only stored on your chosen item and not anywhere else, including the phone used to programme the device.
- Provide you your item straight away, ready to use - you then either wear it, put it on your keys or put it around your neck and use it going forwrard.
Then, if you ever become lost or need help:
- A member of the public or emergency worker can tap your wristband, lanyard or keyring with a phone.
- They will be able to see only the information you have put on your device - which usually includes an emergency telephone number for them to call.
- This will then help them to help you get home safely and quickly.
The scheme is recognised by local emergency services, so if they find anyone confused, they will look to see whether the person has a wristband, lanyard or keyring.
