Timeline and next steps

We submitted our detailed proposal for local goverment reorganisation to central government in late 2025, and government are now running a public consultation until 26 March.At this stage, no final decisions have been made. We’ll continue to share updates as the process develops.

Our proposal includes the creation of a South-East Staffordshire Unitary Council covering Lichfield District, Tamworth Borough and East Staffordshire, alongside two other new councils in Staffordshire.
