When you contact Lichfield District Council for information, advice, assistance or access to our services, we will collect personal information about you. This may include your name, address, contact details and details about your enquiry or the services you require.

Lichfield District Council's Customer Services function is delivered on our behalf by Citizens Advice South East Staffordshire (CASES).

We collect and use your information to respond to enquiries, provide council services, direct you to the most appropriate team, resolve issues, process service requests and fulfil our legal and statutory responsibilities.

How we will use your information

Citizens Advice South East Staffordshire (CASES) acts on behalf of Lichfield District Council in delivering reception based customer services.

Information provided by you may be used to:

  • verify your identity where necessary
  • process service requests and applications
  • refer your enquiry to the appropriate council service
  • provide advice and information about council services
  • monitor and improve service delivery
  • comply with legal obligations and statutory duties

We process your information as necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the Council.

Where special category information is provided, such as information relating to your health or personal circumstances, it will only be processed where there is a lawful basis to do so under data protection legislation.

Your information will be shared between Citizens Advice South East Staffordshire (CASES) and the relevant departments within Lichfield District Council where necessary to deal with your enquiry or provide the service requested.

We will only keep your information for as long as necessary to provide services, meet our legal obligations and comply with the Council's records retention requirements. Information will then be securely deleted or destroyed.
