Due to snowy conditions and icy surfaces, we cancelled today's waste and recycling collections.

Although some main roads may were gritted, our crews work primarily on small residential streets, which are very icy and unsafe. Our refuse collection vehicles are extremely heavy and carry large loads, and our crews also have to manoeuvre heavy bins on foot. With the current conditions, it is difficult to see where surfaces are slippery, increasing the risk of vehicles skidding, crews slipping or falling, or other vehicles sliding into our teams.

The safety of our crews and residents is our top priority, and in these conditions, we are sorry, but it is unsafe to carry out normal bin collections. We will review the situation daily - tomorrow’s weather forecast is also freezing, and collections may be affected again if icy conditions continue. Our online bin calendar will be updated later today, but please be aware that this may change again depending on weather conditions.

If your bin was due to be emptied today, please leave it out for now, and keep an eye on our website for updates.
