We want everyone in Lichfield District and Tamworth Borough to be able to use our waste and recycling services easily and safely.
If you need extra support, we’re here to help.
Help to get your bins to the kerbside
If you’re unable to move your bins to the kerbside due to age, disability or illness, and there’s no one aged 16 or over in your household who can help, we can collect your bins from an agreed location.
Apply for an assisted collection
Once you submit your form, we’ll contact you to arrange a home visit to assess where your bins are located and agree how we can help.
We can also discuss whether you are able to manage or handle the containers we supply and what we can do to help if you find any challenging.
Help with clinical or medical waste
If you or someone in your household is being treated at home for a medical condition, and produces clinical waste (including human or animal tissue, blood or bodily fluids, excretions, drugs or other pharmaceutical products, swabs or dressings or syringes, needles or other sharp instruments) that could be hazardous/toxic, these cannot be disposed of in your black bin.

If your waste is non-hazardous, such as medical packaging or adult pads, we may be able to provide you additional black bin capacity - for example a larger or additional black bin.

Help for large families/families with babies
We know larger families can create more waste.
You can apply for an additional black bin if your household has:
- 6 or more people living full-time, or
- 5 people including 1 child under 3, or
- 4 people including 2 children under 3, or
- Extra non-hazardous waste from a medical condition.
