We’re really sorry if your bin was missed today or this week.

We have made every effort this week to recover collections lost due to snowfall earlier in the week.

However, each missed day means we have to try to catch up on around 16,000 missed bins, while also attempting to carry out that day’s scheduled collections.

This has extremely challenging, particularly as we have had to deal with very full bins following the Christmas period. This meant we filled our wagons more quickly than usual and had to go to the tip more frequently, which slowed our crews down. We also prioritised black bins, as we know people are most keen to dispose of non-recyclable waste.

Following today’s snow, we have reviewed this weekend’s weather forecast and it is due to be very icy overnight and into tomorrow morning, so we will start to catch up on missed collections from Monday, weather dependent.

As such, if your bin and bags were missed this week, please either leave them out, or bring them back in over the weekend and put them back out on Monday 12 January – we will then aim to empty them as follows:

If you need to dispose of waste urgently and it is safe to travel, you may wish to use the household recycling centre over the weekend - we recognise this is not ideal and are very sorry for inconvenience.

We are very grateful for your patience and understanding.
