We’ve recently experienced several fires at the BIFFA waste processing facility in Aldridge caused by vapes or batteries being incorrectly disposed of in household waste bins. It is really important not to put vapes in your household bins as they contain built-in batteries which become extremely dangerous when compacted. Under pressure, batteries can ignite - and that's exactly what has happened.

We are in contact with all known rough sleepers in the district to encourage them into accommodation during this warm spell as part of our severe weather emergency protocol.
