What happens if I don't pay?
Most penalty notices are due for payment within 14 days but the exact details will be included in the Fixed Penalty Notice issued to you and can be found in this table of offences.
If you do not pay, we will proceed with legal action and take the case to court. This may result in a much larger fine.
Can I appeal a Fixed Penalty Notice?
There are no formal grounds of appeal against a Fixed Penalty Notice. This is because by paying a Fixed Penalty Notice you agree that an offence has been committed and that by paying no further action will be taken by us.
If you don’t agree that you have committed the offence for which you received the Fixed Penalty Notice, then the matter will be dealt with through formal prosecution via the courts.

All of our officers are issued with warrant cards which they will use to identify themselves to you before you provide your details.
