Houses in multiple occupation

Houses in multiple occupation offer locked private rooms in houses, where you share kitchen and bathroom facilities with other people who also live there.

HMOs are often either for men or women, but some offer mixed accomodation.

You will usually be granted a licence agreement at an HMO.

Rooms in HMOs within the district are often advertised with local estate agencies and also on the below websites:

There is also a register of HMOs in Lichfield District, which we can help you contact to see if they have any availability - view the register of HMOs.

Birmingham City Council also publishes a list of providers who have met a quality standard award - find out more.

HMO rooms in nearby Coventry, Nuneaton, Hinckley and Bedworth are advertised on RentaRoom - find out more.

If you are homeless or facing homelessness, and are keen to find a room in an HMO, we can help you to make contact with potential providers - please contact our team at housingoptions@lichfielddc.gov.uk

If you take up a licence at an HMO, please be aware you will no longer be considered homeless or threatened with homelessness, and as such you will no longer be entitled to have an active housing register application.
