Paying for a hostel or HMO room

If you are are looking to rent a room in a hostel or HMO, we can support you to set up a claim for either Universal Credit or housing benefit, which if you are entitled, will allow you to claim local housing allowance for pay for your rent - find out more about current local housing allowance rates

Your local housing allowance rate may not fully cover the cost of your room, and you may need to use some of any other benefits you claim, or money you earn, to cover other costs (often known as ineligible charges).
