You don't have to be living on the street to be homeless. You may be legally classed as homeless if you are sleeping on a friend's sofa, staying in a hostel, suffering from overcrowding, or other poor housing conditions. You will also be considered homeless if you are fleeing from domestic violence.

If you are sleeping rough, or know of someone who is sleeping rough, find out about our rough sleeper support.

If you are homeless or at risk of being made homeless within the next 56 days, please register as homeless on the Lichfield District Homes website - choose the 'register as homeless or at threat of homelessness within 56 days' button.

You can also email our team during working hours at housingoptions@lichfielddc.gov.uk (please note this inbox is only monitored between Monday - Friday, 9am - 4.30pm, not including bank holidays).

Alternatively, please call our team on 01543 308000 (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm, not including bank holidays) or outside of office hours call 01527 406643.

Once you have completed the online form, our duty officer will contact you on the same or following day (depending on when you register), or the following Monday (if you register over the weekend), to carry out an initial assessment of your situation.

This section sets out what you can expect if you register as homeless and advice other important advice if you are concerned you may become homeless.
