If you received a council tax summons dated 8 January 2026, we are very sorry, it should not have been sent to you.

We should have sent you a reminder first, but due to an IT system and administrative error, the reminder letters were not sent.

Because of this, we've withdrawn the summons and no court action will take place. There will be no record of this on your council tax or any of your financial records. If you have already paid your bill, and this included court costs, these will be fully refunded to you.

We are so sorry for any worry or confusion this may have caused. If you need support with your council tax or would like to speak to us, please contact us on WhatsApp on 01543 308171 or call us on 01543 308000 weekdays, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm.

We're writing to just under 2,000 residents across the district this week to let them know their bin day or week will be changing at the end of January.  If you receive a letter it will explain exactly what’s happening and what you need to do.

These changes will help us rebalance collection rounds, plan for future housing growth, and prepare for the Government’s forthcoming food waste collection scheme. If you have any questions, please WhatsApp our team on 01543 308171 or email waste.strategy@lichfielddc.gov.uk.

We're so grateful to you for your support and understanding which helps us to continue to deliver a reliable and sustainable waste service to local homes.
