How to make a complaint
Please fill out our planning enforcement complaint form.
Before starting this form, please ensure you have the following information:
- The exact location of the building or site
- The approximate dimension of any new building works
- When the activity started or when it occurs
- The names and addresses of any owners, occupiers or companies involved
- Any photographic evidence to support your complaint.
Please ensure you provide as much information as possible in the form, as if you do not, we may need to contact you to clarify details and this may slow down the investigation into your complaint.
Confidentiality
- The name and address of the person making the enquiry, or any other information allowing the enquirer to be identified, will be kept confidential and not made public.
- The only exception will be where we are commencing formal enforcement action and the enquirer has been asked to collect or provide evidence to support the council's investigation leading up to prosecution proceedings.
- Even in these cases we will not disclose any information unless the enquirer has consented to give evidence at any court hearing.
Alternatively, ask your ward councillor or parish council to take up your complaint.
What happens next?
Once your enquiry has been registered you will receive confirmation of a planning enforcement reference number and details of the planning enforcement officer responsible for the investigation of your concerns.
