Mini nature reserve - coming this autumn

We’ll be adding a new mini nature reserve, designed to attract new species and create diverse habitats for local wildlife.

The new wild area will feature beautiful walkways, allowing families and visitors to explore and enjoy nature up close.

By restoring natural environments and encouraging biodiversity, the habitat bank will also help developers offset their biodiversity requirements, contributing to more sustainable growth.

The nature reserve will become a thriving sanctuary for wildlife while providing a peaceful, eco-friendly space for all to enjoy and reconnect with the outdoors.

The project will be delivered through a 40-year lease agreement with our wholly-owned company LWMTS (Lichfield West Midlands Traded Services). This arrangement enables funds to be accessed from developers to pay for the nature enhancements. LWMTS will also be responsible for maintaining the mini nature reserve.

The nature reserve will remain open to the public and the only changes the lease allows will be nature enhancements that we will work with LWMTS to agree.

There will be no transfer of ownership and the land will remain council property.
