Our Community Can is the name for social value delivery within our district. Through our social value initiatives, our community can connect, inspire and thrive.
What is social value?
Social value is how we give back to the local community. For every pound we spend on delivering goods, services, or works, that pound will also produce wider social, economic, or environmental benefits for our district.
Delivering our social value policy is closely linked to our 2050 strategy, helping to promote confident, prosperous, active, and green communities.
How does it work?
When we contract for goods, services, and works, we will consider how that contract can support and benefit to our communities. Social value is a key part of the tender process, especially with our larger contracts. We review the social value offer based on what will be provided beyond the main contract. Organisations who promise to provide a high level of social value are more likely to be awarded contracts than those who do not. We encourage contractors to take inspiration from our community wishing well and/or suggest their own ideas.
Meet our Social Value Coordinator
Hey! I’m Jared, the Social Value Coordinator for Lichfield District Council. It’s an incredible experience getting to collaborate with so many inspiring people and organisations, all with the goal of leaving a meaningful impact on our community.
In my role, I continue to focus on creating lasting social value - whether that’s through donations to local community groups, encouraging sustainable business practices, or working on projects that align with our core values. Every day brings something new, and it's been amazing to see the difference we’ve made together.
I’m proud of how much we’ve accomplished, but there’s always more to be done. I’m excited to keep pushing forward, connecting with new community initiatives, and exploring even more ways we can make a positive impact together.
