Cash or cheque

To pay your council tax by cash or cheque, take your latest bill to a Post Office, PayPoint or Payzone. Bills are usually sent in March.

Important information

  • Post Office accepts cash, debit card and cheque (limit £1,000 per transaction)
  • Payzone accepts cash only (limit £1,000 per transaction)
  • PayPoint mainly accepts cash; other payment types may be accepted depending on the shop (limit £300 per transaction)

Paying by cheque

Make your cheque payable to Lichfield District Council and write your council tax reference number on the back.

Payment timing

Make sure your payment reaches your account by the 1st of each month to avoid a reminder.

If you pay at a Post Office, PayPoint or Payzone, allow up to 5 working days for the payment to reach your account.
