Substance misuse issues

If you are homeless, or threatened with homelessness in the next 8 weeks, you can make a homeless application online by visiting our Lichfield District Homes page and choosing the register as homeless or at threat of homelessness within 56 days button.

If you would like advice and assistance regarding substance misuse, you can talk to your GP about possible referrals they can make to aid your recovery.

Local resources

BAC O’Connor Centre provides drug and alcohol rehabilitation. They provide a range of services from inpatient detoxification, residential rehabilitation, semi-independent recovery housing, and recovery services in the community or a combination of all of these. You can self-refer by contacting them directly, or through Betterway Recovery, or STARS, details below.

Staffordshire Treatment and Recovery Services (STARS) aim is to help as many people as possible to recover from and be free from drug and alcohol dependency. They offer access to experienced and professional teams who work with you on your journey to recovery from drugs and/or alcohol. When you join the service, you will be allocated a key worker who will support you throughout your treatment and help you develop a recovery plan, that’s built around you and your circumstances. They have a centre in Burton and Tamworth but are currently working with Betterway Recovery (see below) who have a base in Lichfield city where assessments can be carried out.You can self-refer by calling 01283 741053 or email humankind.starseast@nhs.net

Betterway Recovery is a unique service, led and supported by ex-service users based in Lichfield. They provide a safe place to go six days a week for people who want support with their drug or alcohol problem. They offer a menu of solutions to help get the service user to where they want to be and facilitate a variety of groups and one to one support delivered by people with lived experience of addiction and now recovery.
