Sweeping and litter picking rural roads
Some rural roads are not on a regular sweeping route, but we can arrange to sweep these based on reports we receive.
With regards to litter picking, we are only able to litter pick on roads where it is safe to do so, and on some roads a closure will be required to ensure our teams are safe - for example in a 60 mph speed limit zone where the verges are narrow.
Where a road closure is required to enable us to litter pick, we ask Staffordshire County Council to let us know when they are next going to close the road.
The county council then lets us know when they are closing the road (which is not always immediate and not in our control) and we then make arrangements to litter pick the areas. We are sorry if any delays to this causes frustration.
You can also report a road that needs to be closed to enable litter picking to take place to Stafforshire County Council online or call 0300 111 8000.
