Energy grants for small businesses

We have secured funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to help small businesses within the district to cut their rising energy costs.  It is capital funding that can be used to improve buildings and facilities.

The fund will help to:

  1. Make buildings and infrastructure more energy efficient to reduce energy bills.
  2. Support local businesses to make energy savings

We have £75,000 available and aim to offer grants to as many businesses as we can. The amount for each grant will depend on the project needs but can be match funded up to 50%.

Project examples include:

  • Installing LED lighting
  • Adding solar panels and battery storage
  • Using air source heat pumps
  • Putting in building management systems
  • Insulation

Projects should focus on clear ways to save energy and cut energy bills. You must also be able to measure the improvements in reducing energy and cutting carbon emissions for 12 months after the project ends.

When applying, please include:

  • What your project is about
  • The current stage of the project
  • How much funding is needed
  • Your annual gas and electricity usage in kWh

We expect many expressions of interest, so please include as much detail as you can.

All funding must be used, and all projects completed by March 2026. Please make sure that your project can be completed by this time.

You can find more information about the UKSPF online.

Please apply no later than 1 September 2025 at 10am.

We look forward to receiving your expression of interest.
