Plans

Please note that all LLC1 searches must now be requested from HM Land Registry.

All CON29 requests will continue to be provided by Lichfield District Council in the usual way.

We work together with South Staffordshire District Council to deliver local land charge searches as part of the Southern Staffordshire Local Land Charges Partnership.

When you buy a property or piece of land, your solicitor will request a local land charges (LLC) search to check for any legal restrictions affecting it.

A local land charge search will let you know about any of the below that relate to a particular piece of land or building:

  • Planning applications
  • Enforcement notices
  • Conservation areas
  • Tree preservation orders
  • Listed buildings
  • Financial charges
  • Smoke control areas
  • Legal agreements
  • Highway agreements
  • Improvement and renovation grants

Both of our land charges registers have now transferred to HM Land Registry therefore you must request your LLC1 search from them, and your CON29 searches from ourselves. The service will no longer provide access  to personal searches of the Land Charges register (not to be confused with EIR requests), and these enquiries should be directed to HM Land Registry. The council will continue to respond to CON29 type questions asked by Personal Search companies , which are responded to under the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
