Banners/posters
If you would like to advertise your event through posters/banners, depending on where you want to put them up and their size, you may need planning permission and/or landowner consent.
Temporary banners or posters advertising a non-commercial local community event will not normally require planning permission (advertisement consent) provided they:
- are no larger than 0.6 square metres (approximately the size of an A1 poster)
- are displayed no more than 28 days before the event
- are removed within 14 days after the event has ended
- are not illuminated
- have the permission of the landowner
Larger banners, banners displayed for longer periods, illuminated signs, or advertisements for commercial events are likely to require advertisement consent.
It can take up to two months to gain planning permission, and you may need to pay a fee.

It is illegal to fly-post on private property, structures, paving and street furniture. If you display banners/posters without planning permission and landowner's consent, you may be in breach of the law, and your banners/posters may be removed without notice.
