Our waste and recycling crews are working really hard in the heat to empty as many bins as possible - we are also putting on extra staff to help keep services running. Our crews walk more than 12 miles a day and each team empties around 1,200 bins, which is a huge task in high temperatures. Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, we missed a small number of streets today - we are very sorry if your bin or bag was not emptied as a result. If your bin/bag hasn’t emptied this week, please leave it out and we will return to empty it in the next few days. If your bin/bag collection is due this week, please put them out as normal. View the streets we missed today.

Hot weather can be enjoyable, but it also brings risks – particularly for older people, young children and those with health conditions. Please check in on anyone who may need extra support this weekend. Avoid swimming in lakes, rivers or canals unless it’s part of a supervised activity, as open water can be dangerous. Barbecues are not allowed in parks or open spaces during hot weather due to the risk of fires.  Read our top tips on how to stay safe. If you’re concerned about someone sleeping rough, please find out about our severe weather emergency protocol.
