Our telephone lines are closed over the bank holiday weekend from 5pm on Thursday 2 April to 9am on Tuesday 7 April. If you need help whilst we are closed, why not WhatsApp us on 01543 308171 and we'll get back to you on Tuesday. Alternatively, why not use our single form to book, apply for or report a local issue. If your query is urgent and it cannot wait until Tuesday, please contact our out of hours service on 0300 303 8234. If your bin is due to be emptied on Good Friday or Easter Monday, please put it out as our crews will be collecting as normal. We'd like to wish everyone across the district a happy Easter.

Changes are being made the planning system that will impact planning appeals and large housing applications. Appeals will rely only on the original application information, so comments must be made at the application stage. For large developments (150+ homes), the Secretary of State may step in if refusal is considered. So, if you have any views on planning applications in your area, make sure you comment when the application is first published and find out more.

We know many residents will have seen national news coverage about new food waste collections being introduced across the country that will help increase the amount of we recycle and reduce waste.

We were on track to launch our food waste service in March, with caddies ready and staff trained – we were just awaiting the delivery of our new specialist food waste vehicles. Although we placed our vehicle order nearly a year ago, our supplier experienced exceptionally high demand due to councils nationwide introducing food waste collections at the same time. This impacted delivery times and has meant we have had to delay the launch of our new service.

Once our vehicle delivery is confirmed, we’ll begin rolling out caddies and information to households ahead of the service starting. We’re hoping to launch in summer 2026.

We’ll continue to keep residents updated and share more details as soon as we can, as we know lots of residents are looking forward to getting started. Keep up to date.
