Write an event management plan

Section 17 - Waste management

In this section, provide details of how you intend to manage waste during your event. This should include bins, recycling and litter picking facilities.

You need to make arrangements to regularly check and empty bins during the event so they don’t overflow and create a fire risk.

If your event takes place in the city centre you should provide an outline of how you will provide extra bins (in addition to the existing bins) and how you will arrange for them to be emptied regularly. You may also need to hire bins or skips.

Our waste management team can provide you with a quote for extra bins and waste collection, email waste.strategy@lichfielddc.gov.uk to request a quote. We can also quote for litter picking - email streetscene@lichfielddc.gov.uk or call 01543 687566.

If you are hiring one of the historic parks in Lichfield e.g. Beacon Park, you are expected to remove all waste and restore the site to its original condition. This is a condition of booking the event and you will be required to outline the arrangements you have for waste management and litter picking. You may incur clean-up costs if the park/streets are not restored to their original condition after the event.

Street traders, including mobile caterers, are not permitted to use the public waste bins in the streets and in the parks to dispose of their commercial waste. They must either make their own arrangements to dispose of their waste through their own trade waste contract or you must make arrangements for a trade waste contract to be in place for the event.
